Drama

Northwestern Middle School Drama is an after-school activity available to all middle school students. It is held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from September to the beginning of November. Students meet at Northwestern Elementary School to prepare for two performances. One performance is held at the middle school for students and staff, and one performance in conjunction with the high school’s performances for the Night of One Acts at the elementary school. The season is wrapped up with an official cast party. Students learn the importance of responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills, all while building self-confidence.

Forensics

Students who enjoy reading out loud, play acting, giving demonstrations, and working in groups will enjoy the forensic group. Forensics at NMS begins after Winter break and meets after school until 5:15. The practice schedule is very flexible as much of the students work is done at home. The first competition is in February at Spooner. Those students who receive "A" ratings move on to the state competition in Eau Claire in March. Students interested in Forensics need to sign up the week before Winter break.

Elections are held in early September and two students are chosen from each advisory to represent the student body. Student council meetings are held monthly to discuss upcoming school-wide activities and events. Some of the activities sponsored by the student council include: Community service projects, a fall festival, all-school dances and fun nights, experience day field trip, and coordinating concession sales for many extra-curricular activities throughout the school eyar.
