This meeting is a meeting of the Board of Education in public for the purpose of conducting the School District’s business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There is a time for public comments during the meeting as indicated in the agenda.

AGENDA

  3. Approval of the March 18, 2024 agenda.
  4. Consent Agenda:
    1. Approval of the February 12, 2024 regular board meeting minutes open and executive session.
    2. Treasurer’s Report.
    3. Payment of Invoices.
    4. Resignations/Retirements/Employment
  5. Report – Guidance Department
  6. Approval Items:
    1. Request for inter-district transfer from the Iron River Elementary School to Northwestern Elementary School.
    2. Request from Charlie Hessel and Allison Melde and 12 students on the Visual Arts Classic Team to attend the overnight State VAC Competition March 24-25, 2024 at UW-Madison.
    3. Request from Laura Johnson, FBLA Advisor, and eight (8) students to attend the overnight State Leadership Conference and Competition in Green Bay, WI on April 7-9, 2024 and plan to attend the National Conference in Orlando, FL at the end of June if any members qualify.
    4. Request from Misty Radig, FCCLA Advisor, and four (4) students to attend the overnight State FCCLA Competition and Convention held in Green Bay, WI on April 7-9, 2024.
    5. Start College Now/Early College Credit Program for Fall 2024
    6. Technical Excellence Scholarship Recommendation
    7. Rettler, Inc. Bid Compilation and Bid Approval for the Turf Replacement Project.

    8. Reports from Northwestern High School, Northwestern Middle School, Northwestern Elementary/Iron River Elementary Schools, Athletic Director/Activities Coordinator, Director of Special Education, and Student Board Representatives.
    9. Student, staff, and community recognition:
      1. WIAA Individual State Wrestling: Ian Smith, Gr. 12 - State Champion for the Second year in a row.
      2. Morgan Martens, Gr. 11, placed 2nd in the Jr. Iditarod held at Knik Lake, AK.
      3. All Northwestern Middle and High School Students who participated in the All-Conference Bands and Honor Bands in the 2023-24 School Year (attached to the agenda). The Northwestern High School Concert Band also received a rating of 1 on a scale of 1 to 4 from all three judges for a composite score of 1 (Excellent). This is the highest rating an ensemble can receive.
  8. Comments from the audience.
  9. Consideration to move to an executive session is necessary for those items exempted under open sessions according to Wis. Stat. §§ 19.85(1)(a)(c)(e) and (f) as well as Wis. Stat. §§ 120.13(1)(c). Included under these statutes are employee staffing needs, a health insurance contract review, an administrative contract, the District Administrator evaluation and minutes pertaining to a student expulsion.
