NHS Activities Monthly Round-up: November 2025
Band
The band has continued to be very busy. On November 20th, members of the band traveled to Madison to support the football team as they competed in the WIAA Division 5 Football State Championship game. The next day, they were in Duluth for the KBJR Christmas City of the North Parade on Friday, November 21.
Next up is the Winter Band Concert on Monday, December 15 followed by the Java Jive Concert on Wednesday, December 17. Both events will be live streamed on the district YouTube Channel
Choir
The choir and other small groups are prepping for the Winter Choir Concert on Monday, December 8th. Small Groups are also preparing for the Tour of Schools on Friday, December 19th where they get to go to NMS, NES, and IRES to sing some of their Winter Concert music for the kids!
Drama
The drama team qualified and performed at this year's WISDAA State Theatre Festival at UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, November 22. Just minutes before their load-in and performance time, a key set piece broke. The set crew quickly fixed the piece with some screws and an impact driver and gave a great performance. Cast and crew were commended for their team cohesion and complicated set pieces. Subsequently, they were awarded an outstanding technical theatre award as well as all-state honors.
FCA
The NHS Huddle of FCA meets every Friday morning at 7:35 a.m. in Room 3058. Reagan Eberhardt, Payton Orme, Sophie Navarro, Jael Lintula and Ailie Clemmer are leading the Huddle. We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
FFA
FFA members continued our partnership with Lake Nebagamon Lakeshore Association and the Northwoods Cooperative Weed Management Area for the second year in a row to remove invasive buckthorn from the Lake Nebagamon area. This year eight FFA members worked to remove buckthorn from Camp Nebagamon.
Eight FFA members traveled to Wisconsin Dells to participate in the Mission/Impact Leadership Conference. FFA members worked with state and national FFA officers to learn valuable leadership skills to bring back to our community. Members also completed a food drive to supply local food banks in the Dells area with needed supplies going into the holiday season.
SADD/FACT
We are presently partnering with Douglas County Drug Prevention Coalition and Sara White to help us with upcoming events. The Trunk or Treat events in Poplar and Maple were amazing! Special thanks to the Fantastic Four who handed out candy that evening! And, Maria Lockwood was on campus to interview the 3 students who hosted a table for the Great American Smoke-Out. Thanks to all who took bags of “tools” to help with smoking cessation. Our next event is on Friday, December 5 at NHS as we host a free movie night for our district. All students are invited to the NHS commons to watch “The Grinch” from 6:00-8:30. If the student is 12 or younger, an adult must be with the student. And, we will have some refreshments. Also, there will be a holiday decoration station! WE are excited to host this event!
Student Council
The Student Council planned a fun Halloween Assembly that was held on October 31st. Advisories competed in a “TP Mummy” contest; students had one minute to wrap their advisor in toilet paper and the winning trio won ice cream treats for their whole class. Then 35+ brave people learned a dance routine to Thriller and one winner was selected to win a $50 cash prize. The assembly ended with a costume contest; the top 3 costumes/groups earned $25, $50, & $75. The focus has now shifted to December where we will sponsor a door-decorating contest, a community toy drive for KIN, and dress-up days the week before winter break. It’ll be a busy … and super fun … month!
