Northwestern Middle School

Northwestern Middle School is an organization that exists to serve the developmental needs of early adolescents. Our mission is to promote success for all students through a solid academic, exploratory and extra-curricular program that encourages the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and creative growth of our students in a safe environment while empowering them to become socially responsible citizens and lifelong learners.

NMS Named SCHOOL OF RECOGNITION by Wisconsin RtI Center

We have been recognized by the Wisconsin RtI Center in Math, Reading, and Behavior for our work toward fully implementing a framework that leads to improved student outcomes.  The framework helps to increase consistency of instruction, enhance staff skills, proactively provides supports for learners, and builds stronger relationships with students.

Northwestern Middle School is committed to educating each student to be a productive and responsible citizen. In order to do this our character education program will teach respect, responsibility, honesty, and pride. We will teach, model, and affirm these character traits and provide an opportunity for students to practice these traits at school, home, and in the community.

Respect – We respect ourselves, others, property, and the environment.

Responsibility – We are reliable and accountable.

Honesty – We are honest and tell the truth.

Pride – We act with determination to be the best we can be.

Math Support at NMS

Your NMS student has a great learning opportunity to further develop their math skills!

Your child has an online account with the online math program called ALEKS.

This program allows students to develop their math skills at their own individual levels.

ALEKS instructs the student on the topics they are most ready to learn and it periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained.

We encourage students to take advantage of this learning opportunity and we are hoping for your support in encouraging our students to give ALEKS their best effort.

More time spent on ALEKS will yield even more results.

Please encourage your child to be productive when working on ALEKS and to maximize their time spent on ALEKS (i.e. logging on if finished with other work, using a study skills class to work on ALEKS, and even working at home).

We are so excited for this great opportunity and we look forward to helping our NMS Tigers become even stronger math students!
